Abigail, Oh, Abigail...

my girl. you are so precious and so sweet and so adorable.
but these days...these days, you are also so testy, so independent, so opinionated.
One minute we are hugging and the next we are "arguing".
You are very VERY strong willed.
I have to remember that this is an amazing God-given quality that serves you well in your life..it already has, and definitely will in the future.
I pray that the Lord teaches ME how to teach you to steward that quality well.

You are in the toddler stage right now where independence is so very important to you.
I can't tell you how many times a day I hear "I do it MYSELF!".
I LOVE that you are getting so big that you can do more things yourself,
even though it makes my heart hurt that you really are a little girl now, and not just a baby.
It's fun to watch you help with so much...the cooking, the laundry, even taking diapers to the trash for me when I change "Baby Bethy". You are SUCH a big help darlin.

One thing this independent strong willed spirit you've got has been teaching me,
is that I need the LORD's strong Spirit to help me deal with yours. :)
I really do. It is no easy task to go up against the ambitious, hard-headed, strong will of a beautiful, puppy-eyed 2 year old little girl.
It can be (and sometimes is) disastrous.
But we are working through it sweet girl.

Sometimes, no, a LOT of times, I feel like I have no clue what I am doing in parenting a toddler,
but I know there is grace for that. At least I'm attempting to believe that for myself.
I realize you are becoming the age where memories are gonna start sticking, and I want to be aware of that even more so now....
be aware of what i am teaching you, how I am handling things, how I am discipling you,
and how I am loving you.

I want to create this loving bubble around you...not to shield you out of fear,
but to protect you from the lies and schemes of Satan. I don't doubt for one second that he is above attacking a little one.
He is that conniving and deceitful.
I want to teach you how to operate out of love, out of peace, instead of fear or entitlement.

I'm not naive, i know that this is all just part of your development and it is just a stage.
But I also know that God's grace can go above and beyond to teach BOTH of us how to act and react as we journey through toddlerhood together.
We will make it sweet girl.

To be honest...though it drives me bonkers some (most) days, your strong will is something I admire.
It is amazing to see the confidence the Lord has put in your tiny spirit already.
It's been there from the very beginning, even inside my belly you were strong willed. :)
I cannot WAIT to see where this confidence takes you.
Even though we have our moments, I am your biggest fan Abigail.

Mama

Letters to Littles link up!

Today is our first Letters to Littles link-up!!
the heart behind this:
I desire for this blog to be a beautiful gift for my children someday,
and really want to start writing TO my little ones, and not just ABOUT them all the time...
what a precious gift to share with them someday!

So if you'd like to share a letter for your little one, please link up below and join us!
It can be to your little bitty, your big kid (or even adult), your grandbaby, or your baby-to-be.
This link up can encourage us to remember to write to their hearts,
whatever you want to share...

how much you love them, the cute milestones they are doing now, the way they teach you,
even about your struggles in mothering them, or just something you need them to know.
From your heart to theirs.

My Sweet Abigail,

you are GROWING!!!
Each day you get bigger and smarter and prettier and even more loving!
And also a little more sassy... but we are working through it, with God's grace each day! :)

In your Easter basket last weekend, you got a pretty little Hello Kitty necklace, and also some nail polish.
It makes my heart swoon to see you growing into a GIRL and not just a baby anymore.
It makes me sad too, because it has gone so fast.

null

As I see you treasure your new necklace and even when you play dress up,
my heart is so full as a watch this tiny woman become who she is.
It makes me want to press into the Lord even more so that He can show me how to mother your heart, as you learn about and confront things like physical appearance, comparison, jealousy, and all the other things that go along with being a girl.

I want to teach you that you are BEAUTIFUL, inside and out.
And I want to affirm you about EACH one...that the Lord has made you physically STUNNING,
and that He has also made your HEART just beautiful.
There's a lot more I need to learn about these things myself.
Im honored to go before you in this journey of becoming a woman.

Love,
Mama

love you P.

Link Up Announcement!!! (and a Happy 3 Months!)

A lot of you bloggers are great about writing "letters" to your littles ones on your blogs,
but I admittedly am not. I'm even terrible at keeping up with the actual baby books.

I desire for this blog to be a beautiful, printed gift to my children someday,
a way for them to know more about our life, the day to day, the ups and downs, etc.
And I really want to start writing TO them more, instead of just ABOUT them.
what a gift to give them, right?

SO...

"Letters to Littles"
will start next Wednesday, April 11th!!

null

This will be a link up where you can share a "dear baby..." post
(no matter how old they are..even if your little one is still in your belly!)
where you can just tell them about your day with them, tell them how much you love them, how stinking cute they are in that outfit,
even tell them about your struggles in mothering them,
whatever you want them to know...
from your heart TO theirs.

(I'm doing this not necessarily because I want everyone to read my letters to my babies, but for some accountability in writing to them...because I know it will bless them someday.)
And you may not have a letter for your little one every week, but just link up when you do! :)

Grab a button on my sidebar over there,
spread the word, and come link up!
Can't wait!

SO in honor of my sweet Bethany being 3 months old today,
I thought I'd go ahead and do a letter for her!

Sweet B,

You are 3 months old today, and I canNOT believe how fast this has gone.
It honestly makes me emotional because I feel like time is already flying by with you.
You are the sweetest little thing, and have the daintiest little face,
and we are so in love with you, more than we ever thought possible.

null

One thing I love about you, sweet girl, is that you are my cuddle bug.
Your big sister was not that way at all, but you LOVE to be close to me, to my body.
You LOVE to be rocked and are SO happy when I swaddle you!
whenever I first swaddle you, you give me the BIGGEST smile!! :)
You must really like the tight, close feeling of it.
You even sleep best when you are right up next to me.
As exhausted as I am in this stage with you, I wouldn't trade snuggling next to you all night for anything in the world.
I hope you always stay cuddly.

null

I could write so much about you already, in your three short months of life.
You have grown so fast.
I love you so much Bethany Len, I am so proud to be your Mommy.
Happy 3 months!!

outdoors inspiration

The weather has been GORGEOUS, and inspires me so much right now.

whimsical bubble-blowing,
snuggles on picnic blankets,
bouncing on trampolines,
chasing duckies in our yard,
hours in the playhouse,
slides and swings,
cookouts with friends,
long walks to the lake,
and just lots of plain ole fun.

It also brings me to a place of peace.
