Giving Honor: Stephanie Holden

So happy to start this little series here today that is dear to my heart!
(you can read more about it here)

I can't think of a sweeter lady to kick off this series with...
Someone who deserves a lot of honor.

If you are part of the blogging/social media world, you may know her as "Honey".
Her name is Stephanie, wife, mom, grandmother, a good friend to me...
and she is one of my favorite people on the planet.
You may know her from social media, but if you don't...
you are missing out on a woman who is the real deal, y'all!

but first, I cant not stop and say something about that pic above ...isn't she gorgeous?!
(um, please let me look like that when I have three grandbabies, thanks. :) )
Also, she says "Y'all" like I do. I love that.

Above all, and there are lots of amazing things about this lady, she isn't shy at all to tell her story of redemption, transformation, and being loved on by Jesus.
She knows what the true wooing of the Lord is, and she follows close to it daily.

Have you ever met someone who inspires you to press on and be better?
That's what Steph is to me, and to so many.
I watch her not just as an amazing mother in her family, but as a spiritual mother to many.

I have had the privilege of spending some quality time with her over the last few years
(y'all remember those girls trips I go on with all my "blogger" friends? That's how Steph and I met in person!)
She is part of our constant, daily, texting craziness, even though sometimes we all know that she's probably standing on a chair somewhere trying to get signal to her phone so she can keep up! lol

How Stephanie has inspired me and why I know she can be a blessing to you if you don't already know her:

1. The love between her and her husband Nick, of 26 YEARS, is so inspiring. I love watching them and knowing their story. To see them walk into being "empty nesters" the last few years has been an honor as I have seen them do it with such grace. And even have some empty-nester fun! They truly are love-birds. And to know how they walk out their faith leading so many other to Christ through their own testimonies of redemption, is so awesome. I cant wait to meet Nick someday in person. (and I can't wait for him and Parker to meet too, I know they will be friends!)

(aren't they adorable?)

2. She follows her passion and goals. Some of you may have seen her in the running recently to go to Rwanda with Noonday Collection. She was racking up votes. She didnt end up getting chosen to go, but I think the display of love for her through the thousands of votes she got was a huge testimony to how loved and adored she is by so many. Even by people that don't totally "know" her, but just know her story or read her blog or instagram posts, and are blessed by her heart. I love that she felt God's call to try and go on that trip, and just went for itAnother goal she followed that I saw inspire so many people was her weight loss journey over the past year or so. She rocked it. She realized it was a needed goal, and she did something about it. Not many people do that. But she put in the effort, got her family involved, and met her goals. Pretty awesome...and she looks and feels great!3. She pours all she is into her family. She truly makes me want to be a good "Matriarch" of our family someday. She loves on her girls and her husband and her grandkids with so much joy. She gives much to them all with her time and talents (she did her daughter's wedding all handmade a few years ago...pretty amazing stuff!) I have already learned a lot from her wisdom and advice and know that in the years to come, I will have much more to glean from her own experience of raising girls who all love the Lord deeply.4. She and her family gather often. oh I dream of this yall. I dream of one day having all my kids and grandkids meet as often as possible to break bread and share life. Many of y'all have seen her pics of "Porterville Nights" where her whole fam gets together for a meal every Monday night. pretty amazing and encouraging to see a family, especially this day and age, that is so close. It's because they make the effort. And she makes the effort to orchestrate it as the Mother of the house. (you know Im coming to a Porterville Night someday Steph!)5. She is a good friend and a great encourager. She has loved me and all the girls in our little group of friends so well. She recently sent me a bracelet that meant a lot to me and I was so touched by the words in her note. She notices little things people love and are blessed by, and does them. I can't wait to hang out with her in about 3 months on our next girls trip! And I saw her being a good friend to so many, just a few months ago at Hope Spoken. People know how genuine she is, that's why they are so drawn to her.
(This was right after Hope Spoken, we all had a "family dinner". One of the best moments was when all these friends got to meet my husband and girls. Steph was sitting next to Parker the whole time. He told me later that He could tell she was such a sweet person just by being with her for a few minutes.)

It feels like there is so much more I could say about this precious lady, but that's where I want you to go get to know her now...

she blogs here.
she instagrams @honeyholden.
(and if you happen to be going to Hope Spoken next year, you get to hear her speak!)

Go find her y'all, and be blessed by her life.

Love you much Steph!!!!!

Come back every Wednesday to hear about another precious soul you will be touched by!
My heart in this is that it will be a blessing to all!

Red, White, and Blue fruit and cream cookies!

I shared this last summer...
but wanted to again because its a great treat for 4th of July-ness this week!
and I fell in love with yumminess and freshness!

It's perfect for summer treats!
They've always been a big hit, perfect for gatherings, showers, etc.
{and I had NO clue when I took these pics that I had pinned something just like this a long time ago...so there are much prettier pictures of this on Pinterest, but this is my simple take...}

Photobucket

You need:
sugar cookie mix (I just get the cheap store brand...they are the best in my opinion!)
marshmallow cream
cream cheese
fruit of your choice
(I used strawberries and blueberries bc I of Red White an Blue, but Kiwi or any fruit would be great too!)

Photobucket

Make the cookies according to the directions.
I made them extra big and flat.

Mix together the cream cheese and Marshmallow cream until well blended and soft!
(FYI this was always my favorite fruit dip my mom made growing up, but I love this new spin to put in on a cookie!)

Photobucket

cut up your fruit.
set everything out and include a spreader knife for the cream.
THATS IT!!

Photobucket

seriously...this seems so simple, and it is, but it is SO so good!!!!
ENJOY!

{This could also be a super cute 4th of July party treat with strawberries and blueberries!!}

Happy Red White and Blue week, y'all!

Giving Honor: a series in honoring beautiful hearts

I am finally doing something that's been on my heart to do for a while.
Something the Lord has spoken to me about....

Giving acknowledgement and honor to hearts I adore and admire.

So here it is...
Starting next wednesday, Ill be highlighting one blogger who I want to publicly honor.
Some are actual friends, some are bloggers I know only through the wonderful community of social media.

I'd love for you to follow along each week....they will truly be women you will want to know yourself and will want to follow if you don't already!

Trust me, you wont want to miss getting to know these ladies.
Can't to honor these hearts.

a few doses of our summer so far!

Thought I'd catch up here with a few little tidbits of our summer so far..
It's been busier than I thought it would be, but in a good way!
Taking lots of time with my girls at home...they arent in school like they are during the year (they are both just going 1 day a week now),
which means lots of sweet quality time together.
Aaaaand being honest, it also tests my ability to practice patience and grace more, as they are with me and each other all day every day...you mamas of little ones know what I mean!
But it has been good so far, and thankfully not too hot (yet) here in OK.
I cannot believe it is almost July 4th, can y'all!? so crazy.

Well, here's some shots of us...
Hope y'all are enjoying your summer so far!!

Abigail has been asking for dates with me, and I have just felt her really needing some one on one time with me...so last week, I dropped Bethany in at school one extra day, and me and big girl spent the day together...we lunched, we shopped, we swam. She kept saying "Mommy we have SO many dates today!". was so good, for both our hearts...

Bethany is my little fishy in the pool....this is the norm when we get home in the afternoon or evening. She wears herself out!!! I have loved watching her find something to pour all her wild energies into and love to do so much!!

A few weekends ago, we rented a cabin near Beavers Bend State Park, about 4 hours from us. We  went with another family who are good friends of ours, and who have girls the same age as ours.
We all had a blast, the girls got to get out and about in nature...and it was just so nice to get away from the daily grind for a few days! SUCH a treat and a great weekend.
(we loved our time with y'all, Kelli and Jon!)

Abigail got to do a "Frozen" dance camp this summer at her dance studio last week.
She had so much fun and learned a lot...even some Jazz!
(which, if you know me, you know my heart was full seeing that!)

Bethany. We've had a lot of fun together, but well...she's Bethany!
Def going through the throw-yourself-on-the-floor fit phase right now.
oy.
Like I've always said, she is my little refiner.
God has made her a strong little lady and is teaching me DAILY how to parent a strong personality.
(if you have one, you know its not the same as others. Def takes some extra heart to mother!)
But I am learning, and she is too.
And God has given us some precious times, even some sudden cuddles from her.
She is passionate in EVERYthing she does...which includes loving. :)

Oh, and she likes Target like her Mama too. :)

Both girls have loved our time in the pool.
Bethany (see what I wrote above) has always been pretty fearless, so totally goes for it in the water!
I really haven't seen her more happy than when she is at the pool!!

And Abigail, my more cautious and sensitive one, she took a while to warm up to the water.
She has always had more fear about it.
But I cannot tell you how FULL my heart has been to watch her progress and conquer her fears.
So much so that she asks to go swimming every day now!
literally a miracle if you had seen her near the water just a few weeks ago.
This has also been a lesson to me about the power we have as parents to speak constant encouragement over our children, and to guide her in praying for HIS strength to overcome her fears.
She has seen and even acknowledged it herself, which is awesome to see...
"Mommy, God made me SO brave!"

so proud of both my little fishies!

Two sweet girls (teachers here) started this little ice cream truck this summer and we LOVE it!
My friend told me about it bc it came to her son's school...and then we got to visit it when it came to the splash pad one day! And well guess where it came tonight?!
our street!!! yes please. :)

ENJOY THE SUNSHINE y'all!!!!
Make the most of each day... :)
