slippers, scripture, and diapers for mama...

39 weeks today.
and OH so ready to meet our new little punkin!
{as of today's appt, I am 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced...
so just waiting for labor to start now!}

I packed this past week for the hospital,
to be ready when the time comes!
When it comes to things like this, my planning mind has fun,
making lists (and checking them twice. No, really!)

I'm sure I've overpacked, I do no matter where I'm going.
But I'm also going off of what I had/wished I'd had last time I delivered.
What did you take with you when
you delivered your babies?
Anything you wished you'd had there?

Photobucket

I have a bag packed for me, and one for new baby girl.
I also packed a small bag just for Abigail just in case we have to take her with us to the hospital while we wait for our parents to make their 3 hour drive here.
(though Im hoping I will have enough "notice" that I can labor at home
for those three hours and not have to worry about taking her)

some essentials in my bag:
my new fluffy pink robe, and slippers,
nursing cover (made by my dear friend Jessi) to use if guests stop by.
a few tank tops that are easy to nurse in, cozy pants,
my pillow that I can't sleep without, a few toiletries.

Photobucket

a few more intimate items I think every new mama
should think about taking with her:
(I say this as a mama and as a trained Postpartum Doula)
Some breastfeeding "comfort aids"
(for me, these hydrogel pads were very soothing for those first few days/weeks)....

AND, dare I say it?
Diapers. yes, that's right. Diapers for YOU.
I personally think this is one of the best kept secrets for new delivering mamas.
Most hospitals give you huge terribly uncomfortable pads to wear in your underwear for the first few days, as most women have bleeding after they have delivered.
...But the Diapers are MUCH more comfortable and easy to manage.
Just take it from me, it was worth it.

Photobucket

I also made sure it was okay in L&D that we bring our stereo to play our iPod on.
We made a playlist for Abigail's delivery,
and I'm almost done making one for this time around.
Worship music is very calming for me.
I'll never forget the worship songs helping me through last time,
even as I was pushing with Abigail, I remember what song was playing when she was born.

a few other things I've made notes to not forget to take:
camera (and charger!) - for obvious reasons!!
phone (and charger!) - to let everyone know she's here!
computer (and charger!) - to share pictures with you, if time and energy allow!

Photobucket

the carseat is already installed, ready for a little bitty.
(though today Abigail leaned over and said "MY carseat"...
hmm i see where this may be headed, yikes.)

I wrote out some scripture that I can look at,
or that Parker can read to me during the labor.
My desire is to draw all my strength from HIM and
I know I will need all the reminders I can get in the midst of pain!

null

I'm so thankful to have a God who is SO trustworthy
that He will do what He says He will do,
and I believe He has told me that
He will give me the strength and perseverance
to make it through this...with MUCH JOY at the end!

in Baby Girl's bag,
I packed a swaddle blanket (the velcro Summer brand was my FAV with Abigail!),
a few socks, a hat, a couple of onsies,
and of course her precious "going-home-outfit"!

Photobucket

Something new and different I have ready this time:
Big Sister and Little Sister gifts!
I know A is only 2, so she doesn't totally grasp what
will be happening, but she does understand a little bit!

So we got her a gift to GIVE to her new baby sister,
so she feels like she has participated in welcoming her.
(she helped me pick out a cozy blanket!)
And we got her a Big Sister gift FROM the new baby...
a stuffed giraffe she LOVED at the store, and I went back and bought it later.
(it will be worth the battle of prying it out of her hands when she saw it for the first time). :)

Photobucket

Now that I'm all packed, we are just ready and waiting for
this new little bundle!
I've been using my "birthing" (excercise) ball to help rock this baby into readiness,
and drinking my Rasberry Leaf Tea and using Primrose Oil!

We truly believe she will come when God is ready for her to come...
but I'm also just doing some natural things to help get things started!

Photobucket

"Hello sissy! Come out and play!"
We are so ready to meet you, little one...

Today we got to hear baby's heartbeat and Abigail came with us to the appt.
So all day she's been saying "baby heart beep!"
SO so cute!!!!

Do YOU have any recommendations
of things to pack when you have a baby?
Anything you wish you'd had?
Any worship songs you labored to or think I should add to my playlist?
I'd love to hear!
(and I think it'd be beneficial to first time mamas to hear your tips!)

lovin on Baby Jesus...

this precious little girl...
loving on her precious baby Jesus in the manger.

null

She's only 2.
But we believe in our hearts as her parents,
that her little spirit understands just a little about
Jesus loving her.
That He is already capturing her heart.

null

Our prayer is for her to KNOW and to SEE and to EXPERIENCE
the loving relationship that Jesus wants to have with her.
And that her heart would love Him so much too.

null

...That her sweet touches of this "Baby Jesus",
would always be reflected in her relationship with Him.
And that she would know the POWER that comes from that
little baby that laid in a manger.

Those are my favorite pictures from our Christmas season,
so I just had to share.
My 39-week pregnancy preparations/exhaustion has been catching up to me,
and in anticipation of our new arrival, I may not be around my blog quite as much as I'd like.
But I will keep you posted and share life with you as I am able!

Hope everyone's Christmas was blessed!

dear Abigail . . .

Abigail Joy....
you will be TWO this Christmas Eve, just a few days away.
I cannot believe how fast time has gone since the day you came into our lives.
All 6 pounds and 13 ounces of you.
Such a little person with such a huge spirit.

null

You have filled our lives and hearts with a love that
we had no idea was possible to feel.
You have changed your Mama's life and melted your Dada's heart.
We had NO idea what was coming when you arrived that day.
No idea the amount of love we would experience.

null

You have brought so much JOY to our days through your personality and beauty.
God is already growing you into an amazing girl,
and I literally cannot believe that I get to watch that growth every day,
it is my biggest privilege in life.

null

Your main nickname is "Bug", which we have called you
since you were about 2 months old.
We also call you "punkin", or "sweet pea".

You LOVE people.
You do not know a stranger and love talking to anyone who walks by!
You don't even like animated shows - only shows with actual people for characters.
You talk about your friends at school all the time,
and love going each week to play with them.
You love giving hugs and kisses to people when you say bye to them.

null

Your favorite show is Fresh Beat Band, you ask for "Beat" every day.
You even pray for the characters every night
when we list off what we are thankful for.
You have such a draw to music, and are constantly "singing" words to songs you've heard.
You recently started humming as you play, which just warms my heart.
You ask your Dada to dance with you every night when he comes in.

null

You are VERY spicy (but also very sweet!).
You are becoming quite the toddler and have a very strong will,
but we remember daily that God has made you
a STRONG woman in Him already,
and that His purposes for you will be ones that require such strength and confidence.
We pray constantly for Him to prepare your spirit for whatever is to come.

null

Abigail, you have a MILLION words already, and you LOVE to talk!
It has been amazing to hear you blossom into having "conversations" with us
(though just a few words, we can totally talk back and forth).
You have a few made-up words, like "nuk" for "sit"
and we all have incorporated them into our own vocabulary.

You love to color and play with "pay dough".
You LOVE to read!
most of all, you LOVE to be outside and playing on a playground,
or even just tossing a ball.

null

You love your "Pinka" (your pink blanket), and take it everywhere we go!
It is such a comfort to you and I am so delighted by that.
(and I'm glad we have four of them!)
You also still love your paci very much, which I am totally okay with as your mommy.
Just like nursing, I know you will be done with it when the time is right.
That's just how you operate.

null

You are about to have your world rocked with a new baby sister,
but I cannot wait to see how you interact with her.
You already hug and kiss her in mommy's tummy,
and you love to "squeeze" water on the baby during your bath.
You are going to be the BEST big sissy and
life is going to be SO much fun with the two of you!
I am jealous she will have a big sister like you.

Your daddy and I could not be prouder to be in your life.
We are truly honored God chose US.

Happy Birthday sweet Abigail,
...we love you...
