I feel like I must start by saying this...never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be a "homeschooling mom", but now that we are about to embark on this adventure, I am so excited. My husband and I both grew up in a large public school in a big city, and never really had a second thought about doing anything different. But about a year ago, the Lord started changing our minds and hearts. I honestly can't put my finger on it exactly, but we just knew God was starting to lead us in a different direction. We found out about a Classical Christian program in our area, and we knew several families who went there and loved it. We truly felt like the Lord laid this in our laps and on our hearts to look into. And when we did, we just knew it was right. And that's not to say another way is wrong, I don't think that AT all. But for our family, and the things we value personally and believe the Lord has asked of US...this is just the perfect fit.
So, this coming Fall, we will start a new adventure of school for our kiddos. My oldest will start Kindergarten through a Classical Christian Blended Homeschool model. That means she will be in the classroom with teachers 2 days a week (not a co-op), and being taught at home by me and my husband the rest of the week. We are more than excited to jump full force into this, and can't wait to see how it all unfolds for our family!
I plan to share here, about the ups and downs, things I learn about educating, about my kiddos, and about myself (I have no doubt I will be stretched in crazy ways through this journey!). Stay tuned...and please, I would love to connect if you are in this same journey! We need the village. :)
